24-year-old West Londoner Chloe Jasmine has been one of the most memorable contestants on the series so far.
The posh-talking former model surprised us all in her audition when she opened her mouth to sing and an old style jazz voice came out. It’s safe to say Simon Cowell, Cheryl, Mel B and Louis Walsh weren’t expecting what Chloe delivered.
Chloe had a rough time during the 6 seat challenge at Bootcamp where she was given a seat, had it taken away from her, then won it back again! Poor girl. Cheryl, the mentor for the Girls, has become quite taken with Chloe but the question still remains as to whether she has the ability to show versatility through the competition.
Talking about getting through to the live shows Chloe revealed, “It felt amazing, but at the same time I felt sad for the other girls. I knew that would happen obviously, but the reality is different. I feel a bit numb. I’m really, really grateful. I’m really shocked somebody could believe in me that much.”
Much has been made of Chloe potentially dividing opinion and she says, “I said to Cheryl I’m just a normal girl and it’s really rude of people to think I’m not worth voting for just because of the way I speak. If I was from Essex, what would people say?”
Chloe has a few collaborations on her list for the future. “Madonna! If I could, I’d like Oscar Pieterson on the piano, and Frank Sinatra singing, but he can only do a few octaves so then we’d need someone a bit more dynamic. It’s really weird because my Granddad accompanied Ella Fitzgerald on piano in 1975. I only found that out last week. Grace Jones would be great. Adele’s really cool but she’s so overpoweringly wonderful.”
The X Factor 2014 live shows kick off at 7.30pm on Saturday on ITV. Watch Chloe’s judges’ houses performance below:
