Walter Presents is bringing Mafia Only Kills in Summer to Channel 4 on 10th November and All 4 the same day.
Set in 1970s Sicily and adapted from the multi award-winning film of the same name, this enigmatic and darkly comedic Italian series follows a young boy whose family become unintentionally entangled with the Palermo mafia.
The series stars Edoardo Buscetta, Claudio Gioè, Anna Foglietta and Francesco Scianna, and was created by Luca Ribuoli, Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli.
The young Salvatore Giammarresi and his two best friends all fall head over heels for the new girl at school, Alice, who comes from a mysteriously wealthy family. On the same day, Salvatore’s sister attends a secret meeting with an anti-establishment group and his father, Lorenzo, accidentally witnesses the murder of an esteemed police officer by the mafia.
Having clearly seen the vehicle used by the murderers, Lorenzo faces a moral dilemma – should he endanger himself and his family by assisting the police, or instead stay silent and let an innocent man’s death go unsolved? With each member of the Giammarresi family facing their own sticky situation, what ensues is both humorous and dangerously sinister.
Mafia Only Kills in Summer boasts a star-studded cast and a voice narration by Pif, the creator behind the original film.
The series launches on Channel 4 on 10th November with the full boxset available on Walter Presents via All 4 immediately after transmission of first episode.
