UnREAL coming to Lifetime this July

A fictitious behind-the-scenes glimpse into the chaotic world of reality TV is coming to Lifetime this July with the premiere of new drama series UnREAL.

Set against the backdrop of the fictional hit dating competition show ā€œEverlastingā€, UnREAL follows the daily working lives of the crew, proving just as much drama happens off camera. Itā€™s Rachel Goldbergā€™s (Shiri Appleby), the showā€™s young and talented producerā€™s, job to play puppet master with the showā€™s contestants, manipulating them to capture the vital dramatic and outrageous footage.

Fighting against her own dark past and tired of the programmeā€™s dispassionate executive producer Quinnā€™s (Constance Zimmer) demands, how much more of the back stabbing and games is Rachel willing to take?

UnREAL is a humorous and shocking look at what happens in the world of unscripted television. It proves that being a contestant can be vicious and producing it is a whole other reality.

The series stars Shiri Appleby (Girls), Freddie Stroma (Pitch Perfect, Inbetweeners 2), Adam Cromwell, Constance Zimmer (House Of Cards, Entourage), Craig Bierko (Damages), Josh Kelly (One Life To Live) and Johanna Brady (Shameless). UnREAL is inspired by Sarah Gertrude Shapiro’s award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze, is written by Marti Noxon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and directed by Roger Kumble (Just Friends).

UnREAL begins in the UK on Tuesday 7 July at 10pm on Lifetime (Sky 156 / Virgin 242 / Talk Talk 490 / BT 490).
