Tyrant renewed for a second season

Tyrant has been picked up for a second season by FX it has been announced.

The political thriller, which started in the UK last week, will return for an increased episode count of 13 for its second season. Executive-produced by Howard Gordon, Tyrant stars Adam Rayner as Barry ā€˜Bassamā€™ Al-Fayeed who returns to the Middle East for a family wedding only to get drawn into the politics around his late dictator father and his power hungry brother.

Production on the new season will begin in the spring with an expected air date next summer in the US. The UK transmission is TBC at this time.

The filming of the first season of the show was hit with problems when the war broke out in Gaza. The show had to relocate to Turkey to complete filming.

We recently spoke to Adam about the show ahead of its debut in the UK last week. Tyrant continues in the UK at 9pm Fridays on FOX.
