Top 5 Strictly Come Dancing 2014 week 8 performances

Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing 2014 came live from Blackpool and what a show it was.

The remaining 9 couples danced their socks off as they fought to secure their place in the competition. Things are getting serious now and with the leaderboard so tight there’s everything to dance for.

At this stage it looks like the trophy is within reach of several of the couples and it’s really too close to call.

We rewatched all of last night’s performances and selected our top 5. Keep reading to find out who made the cut.

5. Caroline Flack & Pasha Kovalev

After a couple of rocky weeks Caroline Flack was back on form last night delivering a clean and fun Jive. The British theme worked really well and we loved the nod to Geri Halliwell’s iconic Union Jack dress. Caroline and Pasha are a fantastic pairing.

4. Pixie Lott & Trent Whiddon

Pixie Lott’s Paso Doble was fierce, technically sound and very impressive. We loved watching her get into the character of the dance and Trent Whiddon’s choreography definitely brought out the best in her. A stunning performance.

3. Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton

Frankie Bridge performed a fast and furious quickstep with her partner Kevin Clifton. They whizzed around the Tower Ballroom floor with impressive speed and made the most of the bigger area. Reserve them a place in the final.

2. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer

We thought Mark Wright’s score was going to be a little higher based on the judges’ comments. His Charleston with partner Karen Hauer was playful, fun and very entertaining. We think he’s going to be in the competition until the very end.

1. Simon Webbe & Kristina Rihanoff

Blue star Simon Webbe performed the first Argentine Tango of the series last night with his partner Kristina Rihanoff and he certainly didn’t disappoint. He led the performance and pulled off all the tricks and lifts making it look easy!

Strictly Come Dancing 2014 continues tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One. Tune in to find out who will be leaving the competition.
