14 years after The X-Files aired it’s final episode, the show is making a welcome return to TV for a 6-episode limited series event.
After the show went off air, it returned on the big screen in 2008 for The X-Files: I Want to Believe. That film wasn’t quite the box office hit that everyone expected and it was panned by critics on its release.
The new series debuted this week in the US and it pulled in huge ratings attracting over 16 million people on Sunday night and over 9 million on Monday. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi is also back as their boss Walter Skinner.
The first episode of the season is My Struggle. Agent Mulder reunites with Dana Scully after the collapse of their relationship when Mulder is engaged by a TV host. Mulder proclaims new evidence that alien abductions have been faked.
The episode features guest appearances from Joel McHale (Community) and Annet Mahendru (The Americans).
Tune in to Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday 8th February 2016 to see the episode. Preview it with our gallery below:
