The Walking Dead 9×15 The Calm Before preview

The fourteenth episode of The Walking Dead season 9 filled in some of the gaps of what happened with Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) during the mid-season time jump.

If you’re not up to date with The Walking Dead and like to avoid spoilers we suggest you don’t read any further.

The episode jumped between the past and the present and showed that Michonne and Daryl never gave up looking for Rick (Andrew Lincoln). It also showed how Michonne came to be in possession of Rick’s pistol again.

In the past, a woman named Jocelyn (Rutina Wesley) turned up at Alexandria with a bunch of kids. It turned out she and Michonne were best friends when they were younger so they were welcomed in to Alexandria.

The next day they had left with supplies and kids from Alexandria, including Judith. Michonne and Daryl tracked them down to an old school but were knocked out and then branded with hot iron X’s. They escaped and split up, Michonne ended up killing her friend and slaughtering all the kids to keep Judith safe.

In the present, Daryl arrived with his small group and an injured Henry (Matt Lintz). It made Michonne think of the past but she let them in due to trusting Daryl. After Henry was patched up they went on their way and Judith set out on her own after them.

Michonne confronted Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to find out what he spoke to Judith about. She then found a note that Judith left saying she had to go and help their friends. Michonne had to slay her way through a large group of walkers to save her.

At the end of the episode, Michonne and Judith gave Daryl and his group a ride to the Kingdom. Outside the Kingdom, two Whisperers were watching and decided they needed to tell Alpha.

The next episode is The Calm Before. The fair at the Kingdom is underway, with all four communities coming together in celebration for the first time in years.

It looks from the promo trailer that the community charter gets signed, the fair goes ahead and the Whisperers turn up. It also seems that a group including Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBridge) find themselves surrounded.

Tune in to AMC on Sunday at 9/8c in the US and FOX on Monday at 9pm in the UK to see the episode. Preview the episode with our gallery:
