The Voice UK episode 3 recap

We’re back with all the action from the third blind audition round and start tonight with Cleo, who you might have got a sneak peak of earlier. She is a mum of two and a former pop star – remember Cleopatra comin atcha? They had a tv show and played Wembley with the Spice Girls! As we already know, Jessie hits her button at super speed. Do the other coaches enjoy it as much? Yup, Danny, Will and Tom sail round too and fight hard for Cleo but she chooses to join team Will, a great choice we think. Although Jessie doesn’t agree and needs a pep talk from the other coaches after.

Next up it’s 49 year old Barry, he’s related to a chap from Corrie and has a lovely head of curly hair. Before Barry sings we meet 19 year old Mitchell– as a child he appeared on Stars in Their Eyes as Kurt Cobain! Experience versus youth. Barry sings The Boys are Back in Town but doesn’t get the coaches turning. Danny does however commend him for his guitar playing and tone but Jessie and Tom thought it was an obvious song choice. Mitchell now, with his lovely shiny locks, he powers into his rendition of Best Of You. Mitchell impresses us and we are delighted he joins Team Danny.

Now it’s Elise – she’s Welsh and we all know what that usually means. Elise is singing ‘Sometimes I Get a Good Feeling’ and its incredible – big powerful motown vocals. Tom is first to go but all the coaches are after Elise for their team. Tom wins – obviously.

On to 6’2” Emma Louise from Blackpool. She belts out ‘River Deep Mountain High’ but we think she’s a little too cabaret for the coaches taste as she doesn’t get them swivelling. She offers to fire eat for them instead and tries her hand at comedy too. We love Will more than ever for calling her ‘a hoot’.

Belfast’s Conor is next and a little bit Ed Sheeran. He wows us with his raspy version of ‘Starry Eyed.’ We are delighted when Danny turns! They bond over denim on denim and Danny even accompanies Conor back stage to meet his sisters. We love Conor and can’t wait to see him in action again.

Now it’s Amy, who applied last year but didn’t audition because of her nerves. She’s been in a girl band and gets all teary in her VT. Amy is singing ‘She Wolf’ but she sounds shaky and fails to get the coaches spinning. Tom spots that she needs a bit more confidence and Jessie provides a big hug and some words of comfort.

After a montage of the ones that got away without a coach it’s Maxine and Shelley, known together as Diva. They usually perform on the club scene in the North East. Will can feel in his waters that its going to be good but I don’t think Diva’s version of ‘Tell Him’ his what he is hoping for. Jessie turns and Tom too. After some funny Marvin Gaye based banter Diva join team Tom.

Leah is up with her version of RIP. She’s defintley up Miss J’s street and gets her hitting her button first but then Will sneaks round on the last note. Jessie says she is just happy Leah is on the show. Will wows Leah with a duck based riddle; Leah clearly loves ducks and joins team Will. Jessie worries that girls don’t like her, is that true ladies? Would you join team Jessie?

Now we have Lovelle who is rocking a wooly hat and singing Diamonds. Will swings into action, followed by Tom and Jessie. Will says that Lovelle is one of the best singers so far. It’s getting very competitive between Will and Jessie but Jessie finally gets another girl!

Finally on to Jessie J super fan Lem, who sings ‘Do It Like A Dude’ and impresses the coaches with his silky vocals. Jessie J pulls out the big guns to win Lem and gets up to duet with him. Putting a new twist on pitching for acts! She of course wins Lem for team Jessie and that’s it for tonight. See you next week!
