The latest episode of The Rookie saw Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bishop (Afton Williamson) lose control of a crime scene.

The main case involved a heist gang who had carried out multiple jobs over 6 months. Each time they dressed differently and their latest job they went dressed as zombies. Bishop and Nolan managed to apprehend two of the four but a busker made off with the stolen cash. The gang members eventually gave details on their accomplices and they were also arrested after some resistance.
They later tracked the busker down and discovered he’d been through a tough time as his wife had recently died. He was arrested and Child Protection services were called. However, Bishop decided to post bail for him after hearing his story and felt he deserved a break.
Bradford (Eric Winter) was cleared to return to duty by Grey (Richard T. Jones) but he seemed to be struggling. Chen (Melissa O’Neil) became worried about him and after a talk with Nolan she confronted Bradford. She helped with a situation involving his wife and gained some respect from him.
Elsewhere in the episode, Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and the others gave West (Titus Makin Jr.) a hard time for not having a plan B if he didn’t make it as a cop.

In the fourth episode, the rookies are temporarily paired with new training officers, and Officer Nolan is paired with Officer Lopez. When Nolan and Lopez track down an escaped criminal, they discover a little kindness goes a long way. Meanwhile, Jackson is forced to face his fears when he is partnered with Officer Bradford, while Officer Chen and Nolan must face a hard truth
