The Returned is cancelled by A&E Networks

The Returned won’t be returning for a second season it has been confirmed.

The US remake of the French series Les Revenants debuted with decent ratings but by the end of its US run it was pulling in less than one million viewers. In the UK the show was released weekly via Netflix.

The Returned followed residents in a small town whose lives are disrupted when people who have been dead for many years begin reappearing. It featured an all-star cast that included Mark Pellegrino, Kevin Alejandro, Jeremy Sisto, Sandrine Holt, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sophie Lowe and Agnes Brucker.

The news will no doubt leaves fans of the show disappointed as they won’t get any closure or answers following the season one cliffhanger.

In the US the series aired alongside Bates Motel, which has just been renewed for a further two seasons. The original French series will be releasing its second season this autumn.
