The Greatest Dancer is moving to the business end of the competition next weekend as the live shows begin.
Last night the Dance Captains – Matthew Morrison, Cheryl and Oti Mabuse – selected their final three. Oti chose Ballet/contemporary dancer Ellie, Commercial/drag act The Globe Girls and Latin Formation group KLA.
Explaining why she chose each of her acts, Oti said:
“I chose KLA as they are brilliant dancers and very talented. They represent the Latin and Ballroom world and are young and fresh. I think KLA are the ones to watch!
I love the Globe Girls! They are fun, and they bring a totally different element to the show, and who doesn’t love a Drag Queen? They are entertaining and very versatile. These girls can really dance, and they make us enjoy dance in a way we never thought we would.
Ellie has something special. She has brilliant lines and is very emotive in her body and I can’t wait to see what she can bring as the weeks go on. I 100% believe in Ellie!”
Find out more about Oti’s final three…
14-year-old Ellie reduced Oti to tears during her audition so it’s not surprise she made the dancer’s final three. Ellie lives with her mum, dad and two sisters in Livingston, Scotland and she eats, sleeps and breathes dance. She started dancing aged 3 and trains every single night of the week after school for three to four hours at a time.
Why should Ellie win the competition? “That’s for other people to decide, but I’m very committed and determined. I always give it my all, even on an off day I always have the drive to keep going.”
The Globe Girls
The Globe Girls are a London-based drag group made up of five professional stage performers – Matt, Jak, Alex, Tom and JP. They want to bring drag to the mainstream and prove that drag acts aren’t just about comedy.
Why should they be crowned The Greatest Dancer? “Because not only can we dance, but we entertain, something that everyone needs right now in this current climate.”
KLA are a Latin Formation group from South Wales, formed of eight girls – Clara, Ariella, Ava, Izzy, Nellie, Halle-Mai, Emily and Hannah – aged between 9-11. They love to dance and train four times a week!
What makes them special on The Greatest Dancer? “Just being us and showing all our personalities, we work so hard and this just means everything to us!”
The Greatest Dancer live shows begin at 7.30pm Saturday on BBC One.
