The hospital’s new Chief of Surgery shook things up on the latest episode of The Good Doctor.
Dr. Jackson Han (Daniel Dae Kim) immediately caused division in the team with his direct and unapologetic manner. He assigned Melendez (Nicholas Gonazalez) to a case involving a wealthy patient that wanted pre-screening for cancer.
He was resistant but went through with it and discovered the man had a leg tumour with a high chance of being benign. The man wanted surgery, against Melendez’s advice, and he ended up with a permanent limp.
Meanwhile Dr. Lim (Christina Chang), Shaun (Freddie Highmore) and Claire (Antonia Thomas) treated a newborn with a severe birth defect. Shaun told the baby’s mother that her anti-depressants may have caused it, angering Han who at the episode’s end removed Shaun from surgery and transferred him to pathology.
Elsewhere Glassman (Richard Schiff) reluctantly made friends during his chemotherapy.
The next episode of the season is Believe. Believing Shaun is a liability more than an asset, new chief of surgery Dr Jackson Han works to keep him out of the operating room.
