Claire (Antonia Thomas) appealed for Dr. Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez) to help her friend Kayla (Rachel Boston) who had terminal ovarian cancer on the latest episode of The Good Doctor.
He agreed to perform a pain-relief procedure and discovered that he could operate and extend Kayla’s life. Kayla insisted that Claire be part of her surgery team, which Dr. Melendez reluctantly agreed to. She also tried to persuade Claire to go on a date with her husband.
Before the second surgery, Claire and Kayla argued but after the risky surgery, they made amends. Claire received a compliment from Dr. Melendez for her conduct but he refused to take her back on his team.
Meanwhile Shaun (Freddie Highmore) and Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) were dragged into a feud between two brothers, one of which needed a kidney transplant using the other’s kidney. Their argument stemmed from the family business but together Shaun and Morgan resolved it.
Elsewhere Lea (Paige Spara) and Shaun bought a fish that died within a day. Upset, Lea began to open up about her recent failures and Shaun did an autopsy on the fish to prove that Lea’s care wasn’t the issue.
The next episode of the season is Stories. Shaun’s patient is forced to reveal a secret to her husband after a complication. Meanwhile, the doctors struggle with anti-vaccination parents.
