The penultimate episode was set four months after the events of episode 8. The episode opened up in Pakistan with Section 20 and Zarkova (Yasemin Allen) hot on the trail of Pavel (Alec Newman) and the missing suitcase nuke. They didn’t get Pavel but did recover the nuke and obtained a new lead.

The lead pointed them at a woman named Natasha Petrenko (Marama Corlett) who brokered the sale of the nuke for Pavel. They tracked her down on a flight to Hong Kong so the team headed out after her.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Wyatt (Dan MacPherson) had left the military and moved back home with his wife Madison (Kelly B. Jones). She had set strict conditions that he was to leave his military stuff behind. However, he was still secretly investigating Pavel and had uncovered a financial link to a man named Caleb Montgomery (Giles Matthey). He landed a two-week security job in China with Montgomery and headed out.

The team arrived in Hong Kong and Chetri (Varada Sethu) tracked Petrenko to a nightclub. Coltrane (Jamie Bamber) sent Novin (Alin Sumarwata), Mac (Warren Brown) and Zarkova along to investigate. Chetri planned to hack the CCTV feeds but noticed interference, Mac investigated and found it was caused by Wyatt. It turned out that Montgomery and Petrenko were meeting each other and she was buying malware from him to bring down a satellite.

Mac and Wyatt ended up fighting two of Pavel’s men while Novin and Zarkova overpowered Petrenko. They were extracting her and Montgomery, when Pavel made an appearance. He shot up the venue, killing lots of civilians, then detonated a device to kill more. He escaped with Petrenko and headed to their next target which was a satellite station.

Chetri was able to disrupt the satellite signal so Pavel couldn’t crash it to his intended target. Instead it crashed in an ISIL stronghold and Pavel and 20 both rushed to get to it first. While Pavel was trying to buy it from the terrorists, Novin, Mac and Wyatt managed to secure it. They discovered it contained missile launch codes. They then had to fight their way out of the village in a stunning 4-minute plus one-shot sequence.

The episode ended with 20 getting away but Coltrane was captured by Pavel.

In the season finale, desperate to make Russia great again, Pavel plans to launch secret Russian VX Missiles and put his country and the West at war. Will he succeed in his bid to create global chaos? The team knows he can be stopped, but it might mean making the ultimate sacrifice.
