Strike Back: Silent War 7×09 preview

The last episode of Strike Back: Silent War (season 7) saw the team trying to stop a terrorist and recover the suitcase nuke.

The episode focused on an interrogation of Coltrane (Jamie Bamber), apparently by his superiors at Whitehall. He’d been drugged and transported somewhere but he didn’t know where. The man (Richard Dillane) who spoke to him wanted to know about recent events in Indonesia and 20’s involvement with the Russians.

In between the interrogation we saw flashbacks of events in Indonesia. Novin (Alin Sumarwata) and Wyatt (Dan MacPherson) went after the terrorist Hassan (Faizal Hussein) to try and stop him detonating the nuke in a large shopping mall. They also hoped to find out what happened to Chetri (Varada Sethu) after she was grabbed.

At the shopping mall they came under assault from Colonel Aldo (Naeim Ghalili) and his rogue soldiers who were attempting a coup. They tried to fight them off while keeping Hassan and the nuke safe. Unfortunately Hassan was killed by Aldo.

Meanwhile, Coltrane and Mac (Warren Brown) tried to protect the Indonesian military commander General Dewanto (Alfred Nicdao). They came under assault from Aldo’s men and Pavel (Alec Newman). They fought back but couldn’t keep him alive.

Pavel fled back to a Russian safehouse and stopped Chetri from escaping. He tried to get her to repair the detonator for the nuke. She started it but when she was close to fixing she refused. He threatened her with a knife but then realised the issue and fixed it himself before arming the nuke.

Zarkova (Yasemin Allen) went after Novin and the pair had a game of cat and mouse before finishing with hand to hand combat. Eventually Zarkova surrendered and the nuke became active. Wyatt joined them to try and stop it and the best plan they had was to just shoot it. Miraculously it worked and killed the countdown.

Zarkova went back to the safehouse and freed Chetri. Pavel had left and called her to say he would complete the mission.

The episode ended at the interrogation where Coltrane realised something wasn’t right and tried to fight his way out. To his surprise he was being held in Moscow by the Russians who brought him in to ensure Zarkova’s story checked out. They also requested the help of 20 in stopping Pavel.

In the ninth episode, retired from the military, Wyatt tries to get on with life in the real world, while Section 20 and Katrina Zarkova continue the hunt for Pavel and discover an even more terrifying conspiracy at work.
