As one quarter of pop sensations Blue, Simon Webbe is used to adoring crowds and a few choreographed dance moves as part of the bandās live performances. Is he really a good enough mover to impress on Strictly Come Dancing?
āWell, Iām a pretty good mover but the Strictly professional dancers are in a league of their own! In the past I have had to learn routines for my work with Blue but it takes me some time before I pick it up. That said, once Iāve got it, Iāve got it ā unless my mind goes blank with nerves, of course, which is a possibility on Strictly!ā
Talking about what heās looking for in a dance partner Simon says, āI want someone I can connect with, really. Theyāre all fantastic and they all bring something different but I hope whoever it is will be able to whip me into shapeā¦quickly.ā
Simon credits his daughter with the reason he signed up to the new series of Strictly. āWell, Strictly is THE show to watch so Iām so happy to be a part of it. My daughter is a dancer and I really want to make her proud. Iām sure sheāll have a few tips to offer me! Iām also really looking forward to the challenge and I think the whole experience will really push me out of my comfort zone.ā
Strictly Come Dancing returns at 8pm Sunday on BBC One. Watch Simon’s launch interview below:
