Strictly Come Dancing spotlight: Alison Hammond

This Morningā€™s showbiz reporter Alison Hammond will be swapping the red carpet for the ballroom as she gears up to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Why did she sign up to the show? ā€˜Well, first of all, fitness. I want to get my fitness really good. Secondly, I think itā€™s a beautiful show. Itā€™s a massive institution that Iā€™ve always wanted to do. To be honest with you, Iā€™ve asked maybe the last six years to do Strictly and then this year I didnā€™t ask and theyā€™re all over me. So the lesson in life is donā€™t ask ā€“ youā€™ll get it! Iā€™m looking forward to the challenge of it, really. I hope Iā€™m able to do it first of all and Iā€™m a big girl, itā€™s going to be tough on my body but Iā€™m really excited to embrace the whole thing.ā€™

Whatā€™s the most important thing sheā€™s looking for in her dance partner? ā€˜Iā€™m looking for someone really hot. No, seriously, Iā€™m looking for someone whoā€™s going to teach me with fun because I canā€™t learn with anybody strict. I hope I get someone I can have fun with, whoā€™ll push me, whoā€™s a bit funky and whoā€™s happy to try out some new shapes on the dance floor. ā€˜

Alison admits that she loves dancing, ā€˜I love dancing! I dance at home in the living room but I can only dance for like, one minute. I just need to up that to two minutes for this, donā€™t I?! I love dancing, I love music but I donā€™t know how to dance properly, how these guys dance, like the foxtrot and the salsa and samba and all that. Technically, Iā€™m not a good dancer, no. I just throw some shapes on the dance floor and see how it goes.ā€™
