Stranger Things 3 release date and everything we know so far

It was a no brainer that Stranger Things 3 would be released at some point and now Netflix have confirmed that it will be released on 4th July. The release is slightly later in the year than Stranger Things 2 and hopefully, this extra time has been spent making 3 even bigger and better.

Netflix’s VP of original programming Cindy Holland said:

“ The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high,” she said. “They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

You can view the release trailer below:

Stranger Things 3 looks like it’s going to be taking place in the summer rather than the foreboding cold of 2 and this will give us a whole new outlook on the goings-on of Hawkins. There is also going to be at least one major new location with the new shopping mall playing a big part in season 3.

The cast

We can all rest happily in the knowledge that all of the original cast is on board for Stranger Things 3. Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Noah Schnapp (Will), Caleb Mclaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan) and Joe Keery (Steve) are all set to return. We will also see a much larger role for Lucas’ sister Erica, played by Priah Ferguson, and Maya Thurman-Hawke will be joining the cast as Robin, an alternative teen who is bored with life and uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins.

Episodes

There will be 8 episodes in total and they will all be released at the same time so it’s perfectly doable to watch them all in one day though I can’t say I recommend it. I also probably won’t take my own advice and I’ll book a day off work to plough through them. Stranger Things 2 had me gripped from start to finish and I’m sure 3 will be the same.

The episode titles were released in a trailer which you can see below:

You can view the list of episode titles below and we’ll explore what we think will happen in each episode in the future.

  • Suzy, Do You Copy?
  • The Mall Rats
  • The Case Of The Missing Lifeguard
  • The Sauna Test
  • The Source
  • The Birthday
  • Bite
  • The Battle Of Starcourt

So these are all of the facts that have been confirmed so far. I for one cannot wait and I’m now going to start theorising on what all of this means.

Stranger Things 3 will be available exclusively on Netflix from 4th July 2019.
