The first details of Marvel’s The Defenders series for Netflix were announced last night during New York Comic Con and veteran actress Sigourney Weaver has been cast on the show.
The cast of Marvel’s The Defenders – Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) from Marvelās Daredevil, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) from Marvelās Jessica Jones, Mike Colter (Luke Cage) from Marvelās Luke Cage and Finn Jones (Danny Rand) from Marvelās Iron Fist – appeared on stage together for the first time.
After a rapturous reception from fans, they were joined by Sigourney Weaver, who will be playing a significant role in the series. It’s not yet been announced what role she’ll play but we’re sure fans will be going through the comic book series to try and guess.

“Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say,” said Cindy Holland,Vice President of original content at Netflix. “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn.”
The Netflix and Marvel panel also debuted the first trailer for Marvel’s Iron Fist, which is coming in 2017, and announced that Deborah Ann Woll will be part of the cast for the upcoming series Marvel’s The Punisher, reprising her role as Karen Page.
