Pretty Little Liars season 5 The Silence of E. Lamb recap

The bond between the liars is being tested more and more and this weekā€™s episode saw one trying to pull away from the pack.

If you havenā€™t seen the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars we suggest you stop reading now to avoid spoilers. If you have seen it and want to relive all the action keep reading.

The latest episode of Pretty Little Liars saw Hanna (Ashley Benson) spiralling as she continued to struggle with the return of Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and the reappearance of Caleb (Tyler Blackburn). During a conversation in the school bathroom with the other girls, Hanna made her feelings known about being bossed around by Ali.

Throughout the episode we saw her turning to drink to deal with her issues, first downing a beer after a heated row with Caleb following his confrontation with Ali, then necking vodka at a dinner party thrown by Emilyā€™s (Shay Mitchell) mum. The latter incident saw Hanna becoming loose tongued getting jibes in at Ali and being asked to leave by Emily. She was also pretty furious after Ali told her she should stay away from Caleb.

After leaving Hanna headed to the Brew to sober up and bumped into duplicitous Sydney (Chloe Bridges) who used Hannaā€™s loose tongue to her advantage getting information from her about Jenna (Tammin Sursok) and what happened in New York. Once the girls finished chatting Hanna saw Caleb arrive in the coffee shop and the two rekindled their fractured romance.

Hannaā€™s big mouth came back to bite her in the backside at the end of the episode when Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily all received a text about her blabbing from A. Looks like someone has some explaining to do.

Aria started her voluntary position at Radley this week as she did some digging on Bethany Young. During an art class she slipped the drawing that Bethany did in with some other drawings which caused Radley patient Rhonda (Ambrit Millhouse) to accuse Aria of theft. Following the class Rhonda approached Aria once again accusing her of stealing the drawing but was interrupted by Eddie Lamb (Reggie Austin) who was already getting suspicious about why Aria was volunteering at Radley.

Later in the episode Aria slipped into Rhondaā€™s room whilst the troubled patient went for a shower. As she searched the room, Rhonda returned but Aria managed to dive under her bed first. Once under there she discovered the pad Rhonda was carrying earlier and took it. On her way out of Radley, Aria was stopped by Eddie who called Ezra (Ian Harding) as she drove off.

Aria then headed straight to Spencerā€™s and the two girls looked through the disturbing drawings of Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker). Spencer took pictures and Aria was keen to return the pad to Rhonda without her noticing. As for Eddie talking to Ezra, it seems he arranged a meeting with him but never showed up.

Spencer found herself bonding a little with Ezra this week. Despite disapproving of Ariaā€™s recent slip, Spencer agreed to help Ezra move his files to a safe location. She also took the opportunity to borrow one of his cameras so she could spy on Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) who had returned to try and repair her parents marriage. Aside from finding a dead rat in Melissaā€™s garbage – did she plant the one in Paigeā€™s (Lindsey Shaw) locker? ā€“ Spencer didnā€™t catch her sister doing anything particularly interesting. What she did see was Alison on her way to somewhere and called the other girls to investigate.

Emily had a couple of run-ins with Mona (Janel Parrish) this week, first over the dead rat in Paigeā€™s locker, then outside Tobyā€™s (Keegan Allen) devastated house. Following her disastrous dinner with Ali, Emily admitted to her mother that she did have feelings for her friend but wasnā€™t sure how she felt. Adding to her confusion she called Paige and left a voicemail where she almost uttered ā€˜I love youā€™ before hanging up.

Pretty Little Liars continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC Family in the US.
