Alison (Sasha Pieterse) proved that old habits die hard in this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars.

Scream For Me saw Alison up to her old tricks as she continued to manipulate her friends and their parents. Following her falling out with Hanna (Ashley Benson) last week after Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) mum nearly found out that Ali’s kidnapping story was a lie, Ali asked Hanna if she could stay with her and her mum whilst her father was out of town. Hanna tried to brush Ali off but the persistent little minx went straight to Mrs Marin (Laura Leighton) and wormed her way into the house.
After her first night in the Marin house, Ali told Ashley that she couldn’t sleep as she heard someone trying to get into the house. Ashley saw that Ali had spent the night sleeping in Hanna’s wardrobe and decided she needed to get her out of the house. As the two were getting ready, Ashley realised someone had broken into the house and as Ali came down the stairs the two women stood frozen as they saw a silhouette of someone holding a knife.
The intruder quickly left and Ashley called the police. Lieutenant Tanner (Roma Maffia) arrived and immediately picked holes in Ali’s account of what happened. Earlier in the episode she’d done the same thing when questioning Ali over the death of Shana (Aeriel Miranda). It turned out Tanner was right to quiz Ali as the ‘break-in’ was a set-up and Ali asked Noel (Brent Daugherty) to break-in to the Marin house to add weight to her story that someone was after her following her made-up escape. Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily were speechless at Ali’s latest deceit.
Ali’s constant presence drove Hanna out of the house and into the arms of Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) who continued to supply Hanna with booze and encourage her budding drink problem. Clearly Hanna learned nothing from her loose tongue moment with Sydney (Chloe Bridges) last week and her drinking found her the unwanted recipient of Zack’s (Steve Talley) affections; it’s not boding well for his impending marriage to Ella (Holly Marie Combs) is it? With Aria (Lucy Hale) already not speaking to her, Hanna appealed to Spencer and Emily about the incident but they didn’t believe her. Later in the episode it happened again and Hanna went straight to Aria to tell her what had happened. Although she tried, Aria didn’t want to hear it and Hanna was sent packing after a severe dressing down. It seems Aria might partially believe Hanna though but will she tell her mother?
Aria continued her search for answers at Radley and found out that Eddie Lamb (Reggie Austin) no longer worked there. As she tried to put Big Rhonda’s (Ambrit Millhouse) sketchbook back in her room, she was caught in the act but Rhonda was more amenable to talking on the condition Aria got her some snacks that she wasn’t supposed to have. As the two talked Aria confirmed that Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) used to visit Bethany and shower her with gifts. It was also revealed that Jessica took Bethany riding and had adopted her a horse. Before Aria could find out any more she was caught by a Radley nurse who scolded her for giving diabetic Rhonda sugary snacks.
Aria threw herself into research and completely forgot the appointment with her mother to start making wedding plans. On the plus side she managed to find the stables Jessica took Bethany to and Spencer and Emily went off to investigate. At the stables the two girls questioned a stablehand and had it confirmed that Jessica had been there with Bethany and had once tried to make the girl called her ‘Aunt’ which had resulted in a bucket-throwing incident.
With a storm brewing, the girls should have driven home but instead they continued to sneak around the stables. After finding a riding hat with Melissa’s initials in it, Spencer and Emily were locked in a stable pen and nearly kicked to death by a horse in the next pen who was spooked by the storm. They managed to escape with Spencer getting a minor injury.
Elsewhere in the episode Toby (Keegan Allen) revealed that he had enrolled in police training to try and put a stop to A’s reign of terror. Sydney continued to dig for information about what happened in New York but was caught out by Emily who had tried to throw her off the track.
Pretty Little Liars continues Tuesday at 8/7c on ABC Family in the US.
