Pretty Little Liars season 5 Run, Ali, Run recap

A returned during last weekā€™s Pretty Little Liars causing much shock and confusion.

If you havenā€™t seen the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars then we suggest you stop reading now to avoid spoilers. If you have seen it and want to relive the action then keep reading.

When we last saw Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Alison (Sasha Pieterse) they were stood outside Tobyā€™s (Keegan Allen) house in shock as it exploded and burned to the ground. The fire started just as the girls discovered that Radley patient Bethany Young was the girl buried in Aliā€™s grave. In the midst of the chaos the girls received a text saying ā€˜Did you miss me bitches? ā€“ Aā€™ hailing the long-awaited return of the tormentor.

In Emilyā€™s room the girls fretted about Aā€™s return realising that theyā€™d mistakenly believed Shana (Aeriel Miranda) was A and that Aria was in danger of being exposed as the person who accidentally killed her.

The next day Hanna bumped into Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) who revealed his unhappiness about her relationship with Travis (Luke Kleintank) and admitted he didnā€™t know how long he would be staying in Rosewood. We think itā€™ll be longer than he believesā€¦

During lunch at Rosewood High, Ali and the girls received a video of Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) being buried with a message saying, ā€˜I buried your Mom the same way I watched her bury you ā€“ Aā€™. The message then deleted itself before they could do anything about it.

Realising that she wasnā€™t safe, and neither were her friends, Ali managed to convince Hanna to help her run away. Ali bought her tickets and returned to her home to get a few things. Once there she was attacked by A who was interrupted by Emily who cottoned on to Aliā€™s plan to leave.

Spencer appealed to Eddie Lamb (Reggie Austin) from Radley for help finding out information about Bethany. He refused to speak to her but later left an envelope outside of Ezraā€™s house which showed a disturbing drawing of Jessica in her garden and had Bethanyā€™s signature on the back.

Detective Tanner (Roma Maffia) started to nose around Rosewood investigating Shanaā€™s death. Ezra was first on her list and as she questioned him she noticed Ariaā€™s bag and jacket. Tannerā€™s appearance made Ezra and Aria paranoid so they agreed to move his research into her attic for the time being.

Elsewhere Aria continued to grow closer to Ezra (Ian Harding) following their slip last week as they searched through his research to find a connection between Bethany and the DiLaurentis family.

Spencer dealt with the implications of her mother (Lesley Fera) moving out of the family home. After having a brief one-to-one with her father (Nolan North), Spencer tried to get her parents to reconnect but all she managed to do was get them to agree that separating was the best course of action and that she would return to the house with her mother.

Hannah and Travis seemed to split up after she forgot about their date. He began to get suspicious about what she was telling him and with good reason as Hanna had a heart-to-heart with Caleb and told him she didnā€™t want him to leave. Later on she had a tough conversation with Travis who told her he canā€™t keep trying to make their relationship work if sheā€™s only half-committed.

Paige (Lindsey Shaw) gave in and told Emily who was part of Mona’s (Janel Parrish) army which resulted in the poor girl finding a dead rat in her locker.

The episode came to a close with Aria being interviewed for a job at Radley. Figuring it may be the only way to get the information they need about Bethany, Aria was volunteered as the most suitable candidate to get a job there.

Pretty Little Liars continues on Tuesdays at 8/7c in the US on ABC Family.
