MotherFatherSon revealed Max’s (Richard Gere) back story on tonight’s episode.

Max had a furious showdown with Kathryn (Helen McCrory) and Caden (Billy Howle) after the pair confronted him. Caden revealed that his father had been listening to them all via bugs and he threatened to expose his father in the news.
Before he left, Max told Kathryn and Caden that he knew a secret about Jahan’s (Danny Sapani) son that he was thinking about putting out to destroy his chance of re-election. His family told him not to do it but something tells us, he’s going to push on.
The episode also revealed how Max had become the man he had and it turns out his father Walter (Ciaran Hinds) was a nasty piece of work. From an early age Walter pushed his son to be more steely and cold, like him, and taught him to be a man by making him sleep with an older prostitute.
