Kim Raver confirmed as series regular for Grey’s Anatomy season 15

Kim Raver is scrubbing back in as Dr. Teddy Altman for season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy.

If you haven’t seen the season 14 finale and want to avoid spoilers (and we mean MASSIVE spoilers), then stop reading now. Otherwise carry on and find out more!

After appearing in several episodes of the long-running medical drama’s 14th season, Raver made a surprise appearance in the season finale. Her character, Teddy, asked Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) for a job and it looks as if she’s going to be taking on Bailey’s job as Chief for an interim period.

The surprise moment in the season finale saw Bailey announce that she wanted to take a sabbatical from her job and live life a bit more. It was also revealed that Teddy is pregnant, presumably with Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) baby following their brief fling earlier in the season.

Teddy’s reappearance, and now series regular status, is likely going to cause issues between Owen and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), who looked to be reuniting at the end of season 14.

In a statement Raver said, “I am thrilled to reprise the role of Dr. Teddy Altman as a regular. Returning to Shondaland with the incredibly talented (showrunner) Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo and the amazing cast is heavenly. I have a special place in my heart for Teddy and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to continue her story.”

Raver made her first appearance on the show in season 6 and she departed at the end of season 8. During that time Teddy and Owen struggled to figure out their relationship and she married a patient, who ultimately died.

This is the first casting news for season 15. When the show returns it’ll be down two characters – April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) – who were let go at the end of season 14.
