J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy trailer debuts online

The first trailer for J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy has been released.

The new mini-series, based on Rowling’s 2012 book of the same name, will feature three episodes and is set to air on BBC One this month.

The Casual Vacancy centres on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty faƧade however, is a town at war: rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils. Pagford is not what it first seems.

The star-studded cast for the series includes Michael Gambon (plays Howard Mollison), Julia McKenzie (plays Shirley Mollison), Keeley Hawes (plays Samantha Mollison), Rufus Jones (plays Miles Mollison), Rory Kinnear (plays Barry Fairbrother), Emily Bevan (plays Mary Fairbrother), Simon McBurney (plays Colin Wall), Monica Dolan (plays Tess Wall), Lolita Chakrabarti (plays Parminder Jawanda), Silas Carson (plays Vikram Jawanda), Richard Glover (plays Simon Price), Marie Critchley (plays Ruth Price), Abigail Lawrie (plays Krystal Weedon), Keeley Forsyth (plays Terri Weedon), Michele Austin (plays Kaye Bawden), Sam Redford (plays Obbo), Hettie Baynes Russell (plays Mo), Emilia Fox (plays Julia Sweetlove), Julian Wadham (plays Aubrey Sweetlove), Joe Hurst (plays Andrew ā€˜Arfā€™ Price), Ria Choony (plays Sukhvinder Jawanda), Brian Vernel (plays Stuart ā€˜Fatsā€™ Wall), Simona Brown (plays Gaia Bawden).
