Game of Thrones season 8 gets new Aftermath trailer and we’re worried

We’re now less than two weeks away from the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. HBO are keeping as quiet as possible so as not to spoil anything but like many fans we can’t help but analyse every snippet of information that gets released.

Following the cryptic Crypts of Winterfell trailer, the first look photos and the first season 8 trailer, HBO are now teasing us some more with a new trailer titled Aftermath.

Watch the Game of Thrones season 8 Aftermath trailer below:

As you can see from the trailer things look pretty bleak. What we’re seeing appears to be shots of Winterfell after an epic battle. We already know that Game of Thrones season 8 features the longest battle sequence ever committed to film. We’re expecting this to be the Battle for Winterfell and for it to feature around episode three of the final six.

What we don’t know is how it will turn out and this trailer could be interpreted in several ways. It’s possible that the Night’s King and his army will completely destroy everyone in its path. Alternatively after much fighting we could see the survivors driven further south towards Cersei and her armies.

The eagle-eyed fans will notice several recognisable items throughout the Aftermath trailer. These appear to include Jaime Lannister’s golden hand, Tyrion’s pin and Daenerys’ chain. Also of note are Arya’s sword Needle and Jon’s sword Longclaw which also appears to be covered in blood. Finally, through the icy blizzard appears to be the shadow of a figure which looks an awful lot like the Night King.

What does it all mean? Are these characters all going to die? Or are these the ones that survive? Maybe these weapons and trinkets are just hinting at who will be involved in the battle. Whatever the explanation we’re glad that there’s not much longer left to wait.
