Emmerdale weekly: Gemma collapses

Not managed to keep up with the going ons in the Dales this week?   Don’t worry, here’s our handy recap for you.

For Gemma the Belle tolls

The joy of winning first prize for their school film project is short lived for Belle, Gemma and Sean as the love triangle that’s been bubbling under comes to the fore.  Belle tells Sean that Gemma fancies him to which he confesses that he’s still in love with Belle.  She likes him but is wary after he got Gemma pregnant after a one night stand last year.

A naff party in the village hall sees Gemma playing the gooseberry and leads to her stomping off with Belle in hot pursuit.   When she catches up to her, angry words turn physical as Gemma slaps Belle and in retaliation Belle shoves Gemma who hits her head on a rock, drawing blood – unbeknownst to Belle who storms off.  Gemma wanders off seemingly just shell shocked but a tragic turn is round the corner as she collapses on her way back home and spends the night under a bush.

Jai gets conned

Following up on a lead from his newspaper advert to find Rachel and his son Archie, Jai agrees to pay over £20,000 to a guy who claims to know their whereabouts.  Charity gets wind of his plans and her and Declan try to get to the lead before him, managing to corner him and find out that he’s just conning Jai.  The pair take the money and smile all the way back to The Woolpack where the news has already reached Priya, Diane and Megan.

Upon hearing the news, Megan goes round to Jai’s to show her support and finds him drunk and antisocial, he even makes a move on her and plants a big smacker on her lips.  Megan makes her excuses and leaves but when she tells her brother Declan he reacts by giving Jai a warning to stay away from her.  It looks like Megan may have different ideas and Jai has possibly seen a way to retaliate against Charity and Declan.  This one is going to develop we’re sure of it!

These little piggies went all the way home

It’s been a weird and slightly unnecessary storyline but you can’t help but find that pink chubby little face cute – yes we’re talking about Paddy, oh and his three little piglets.  Marlon and Paddy do make for a good comedy duo and to offset the usual dramas there has been some lighthearted relief with their banter and affection for the piglets Kevin Bacon, Jon Ham and Pjork.  Sadly all good things must come to an end as Rhona tracks down their owner and gets him to collect the little ones, but will Paddy and Marlon ever be able to forgive her?

If you only have time for one episode this week

I guess you’re probably wanting to watch Gemma and Belle’s fight (in Friday’s episode) but to be honest it wasn’t really worth it.  That’s not to say we don’t love a good soap opera slap and that’s why we’ve gone for Wednesday where you get a slap accompanied by a ‘shut up! shut up! shut up!’ from Priya.  Her eating disorder is brought to Jai’s attention by a concerned Layla and he’s in no mood to go easy on her and ends up shouting at her and accusing her of murdering her unborn child.  That’s when Priya loses it and slaps him.  Something we’ve been wanting to do for quite a while so thanks Priya!

Bubbling under

Here’s a look at the coming week.

Gemma fights for her life after a night spent in the bitter cold with a head injury as Lisa fights to keep Belle’s shove a secret.

The Barton brothers vie for Debbie’s attention but will either manage to woo her?

Val is struggling with her health-kick since being diagnosed with HIV

Is it just us…

Or did seeing an old male flame have more of an effect of Ruby than she’d care to admit when she finds a new client to be a Carer for who turns out to be the grandfather of a man she once dated before she came out.  Wouldn’t like to be the one to tell feisty Ali – she’s not exactly known for her calm, reasonable behaviour!
