Emily Middlemas leaves The X Factor 2016

This week in the bottom two were Matt Terry and Emily Middlemas, who have both never been in the bottom two but the other contestants, which included 5 Five After Midnight and Saara Aalto, who were both familiar with being in the bottom two went straight through to the final. But in a sick turn of events the two contestants with the fewest votes were young contestants, Emily and Matt, who were favourites to win throughout the competition.

The entertainment tonight  came courtesy of American superstar Lady Gaga, who treated the audience to one of her newest songs from her latest album.

When it came to it Nicole had to introduce her act, Matt Terry as one of the bottom contestants to sing to remain in the competition. Matt decided to sing Christina Aguilera’s ballad, Hurt. Matt sounded so confident and sang his heart out during the show and I was in love with his performance.

Simon introduced his last girl / contestant and favourite to win Emily, who sang the most beautiful version of Birdy’s track, Wings. Unfortunately this didn’t seem to win over the crowd.

Both contestants had never been in the bottom two in the past and didn’t deserve to be there a week before the final but the judges had to cast their votes and both Nicole and Simon decided to stick with their contestants, Louis picked Matt to stay whilst Sharon also agreed to see Matt stay, this meant that Emily was going home tonight. This came as a total shock from a contestant who had never been in the bottom three.

This means that 5 After Midnight, Saara Aaalto and Matt Terry will be battling out next week in Wembley for a chance to win The X Factor final.

The X Factor Final will be on next Saturday on ITV at 8pm. The remaining last three contestants will be hoping to win the coveted crowd.
