The third season of Banshee kicked off in the UK tonight and it delivered on its promise of action, sex and drama.
If you havenāt seen the season 3 premiere of Banshee and donāt want any spoilers we suggest you stop reading now. If you have seen it and want to relive all of the action then keep reading.
Banshee wasted no time getting into the action with The Fire Trials. The episode opened with Hood (Antony Starr), Siobhan (Trieste Kelly Dunn) and Brock (Matt Servitto) exacting revenge for the murder of their colleague Emmett Yawners (Demetrius Grosse). After tracking down Hondo (Tyson Sullivan) the neo-Nazi responsible for the murder, the three executed him in brutal fashion firing multiple rounds into him as he pleaded to be arrested. Welcome back Banshee, we missed you!
Hood and Carrie get back to normal life
With that plot from season 2 wrapped up, The Fire Trials showed what life looked like without Rabbit (Ben Cross) in it and the constant threat of his plans no longer hanging over Hood and Carrie (Ivana Milicevic). Hood is continuing to play Sheriff with Deva (Ryann Shane) as his reason for still hanging around whilst Carrie has hit rock bottom after separating with Gordon (Rus Blackwell), taking up her former job as a waitress and sleeping with Colonel Douglas Stowe (Langley Kirkwood). We suspect on that she has no idea who the Colonel really is and what heās up to at this stage in the season.
Hood is keeping a watchful eye over Deva whose behaviour is spiralling further into dangerous territory. In the episode she tried, and failed, to rob a smoking paraphernalia store to impress her friends and score some money. Hood was waiting outside the store for her and took her back inside to highlight all of the ways she had messed up her robbery attempt. He then returned her home where Gordon begged Hood not to take his daughter from him after already destroying his life and marriage.
Carrie flipped out too when an overly friendly customer decided to grope her in the diner. She responded by breaking his nose, which resulted in Hood arriving to give her a pep talk where he reminded her that heās the only friend she has.
An inappropriate relationship
We still canāt get that scene of Rebecca Bowman (Lili Simmons) embracing her naked uncle Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen) from the season 2 finale out of our heads. Well unfortunately The Fire Trials put a new image in our heads as it looks like Rebecca and Kai are now sleeping together too (eww). Kai is grooming Rebecca to help run his empire but heās unaware that his niece is struggling in the aftermath of murdering Alex Longshadow (Anthony Ruivivar).
Not only that but it seems Rebecca has made an enemy out of Chayton Littlestone (Geno Segers) who accosted her outside the club and told her he was coming for her and Kai for the murder of Alex.
Hood has a terrible idea
After responding to a bloody gun fight involving Chayton and a group of marines, Hood visits Camp Genoa to speak to the Colonel. His arrival isnāt greeted warmly and whilst at the base he spots that the marines are moving money around and sees an opportunity to score a big job. First of all he brings Sugar (Frankie Faison) in on the job then entices Job (Hoon Lee) back to Banshee to help. What he failed to mention is that heād spotted mercs guarding the base, which set off alarm bells in Jobās head.
Brockās spiral beginsā¦
Brock spent the episode struggling to cope with his part in the execution of Hondo. He was disconcerted that Hood didnāt appear phased by what theyād done. Emmettās death was also playing on his mind as the late copās replacement arrived in the shape of former Kinaho tribe member Billy Raven (Chaske Spencer) and Brock didnāt spend any time trying to help the newbie. Instead he jumped on one of his calls from a woman claiming to have seen a man in her garden.
Upon arriving to check it out it was quickly revealed that the woman who made the call was Brockās ex-wife Emily (Tanya Clarke) who calls the station when sheās drunk. Anger moved to passion as Brock had sex with his ex then he went to visit Emmettās grave to talk to his deceased friend about whatās been going on.
Nolaās back!
Alexās deadly sister Nola (Odette Annable) is back and she, like Chayton, is out for revenge. In the final scenes of the episode Nola was seen in the Kinaho council room looking at the blood stains on the carpet. Do we think she has any idea who killed Alex? Knowing Nola sheāll waste no time getting to the bottom of the matter.
Banshee continues at 10pm Thursdays on Sky Atlantic HD.
