5 reasons why Fleur East should win The X Factor 2014

It’s fair to say that The X Factor 2014 hasn’t been everything we had hoped it would be.

The return of Simon Cowell and Cheryl along with the addition of Mel B has improved the judging panel massively but the standard of talent is pretty poor. Look at last week’s live show for evidence. At least half of the contestants sang out of tune/badly and only a handful of them could actually survive in the current chart landscape.

For us there’s one bright beacon of hope in this year’s crop of X Factor finalists and that’s Fleur East.

As we prepare ourselves for another disappointing week of sub-par singing, from most of the contestants, we’ve compiled our list of 5 reasons why Fleur should easily win the competition this year.

1. She’s had the biggest journey so far. Think back to when we first met Fleur…chances are you probably can’t. Until she delivered that fantastic judges’ houses performance of Bang Bang we never thought that Fleur would make the live shows. Looking at her now and she’s really blossomed into a fantastic performer.

2. She gives an actual performance. There’s no gimmicks with Fleur. She’s not using her body to sell her performances or relying on girls to pick up the phone because they fancy her. Don’t get us wrong Fleur is a gorgeous lady but her performance ability speaks for itself. Every week she delivers a proper polished performance that looks and sounds great.

3. She handles herself with dignity. Fleur is growing in confidence but she’s not become arrogant with it. She takes the criticism from the judges and she works on it every week. The way she handled herself when Mel B tried to accuse her of cheating was impressive and she’s proven the Spice Girl wrong since.

4. She can sing and dance (at the same time). Whilst most of her fellow finalist hide behind a mic stand or a guitar, Fleur lets herself go and dances her socks off whilst maintaining solid live vocals. That’s no easy thing to do and a lot of modern popstars would let a backing track do the vocal work for them.

5. She’s already a proper popstar. Ok well she isn’t but watching her every week you would think that she is. She has great vocals, we love her style and she entertains every single week. Quite honestly no one else on the show is even in the same league in terms of being an all-round performer.

The X Factor 2014 continues at 8pm on Friday. Watch Fleur’s week 3 performance below:
