Did you seriously say that freakshow was better than coven? That my friend, is bullshit. Freak show sucked ass and coven was 10x better than that mess of a season.

Hi Manuel. Thanks for reading the article. In my opinion yes Freak Show was better than Coven. For me Coven was badly paced, too many storylines that didn’t quite fit in (Evan Peters’ Frankenstein sub-plot, Stevie Nicks, Lily Rabe’s unnecessary character). I also didn’t like the way no one ever really stayed dead and the season built to a really disappointing climax. It’s just my opinion though so let’s keep it friendly and agree to disagree. I respect your opinion!

Thank you, I respect yours as well. But I think coven had a better solidified plot/ story arc than freak show. In coven it was pretty simple (voodoo vs witches with inside problems and outer ones now and then like the witch hunters) and the constant guess of who the next supreme may be. While freak show..it had its character development as its main pushing point but it ultimately just became one random problem after another with even more useless attributes than you said with coven (penny and her dad issues, the last minute Neil Patrick Harris character and Regina which was a waste of gabourey sidibes talent) overall I guess it was coven’s entertaining story telling that made me prefer it over FS, because by comparison freakshow felt lost and the plot seemed to go nowhere.

I think for me with Freak Show I liked the Freaks Vs The World theme that ran through it but I agree there were too many random characters and sub-plots. My main beef with Coven is that it didn’t feel like there was much of a strong narrative. I take your point it was voodoo Vs Withces but then they got bored of that and it all became a bit blurred.

Thank you so much for this! I’m so glad someone else agrees with me! I was obsessed with American Horror Story the first two seasons were amazing! The plot, the actors, the characters were all great! I was very disappointed with Coven I felt like the story line was off and the characters didn’t grow at all. I didn’t even watch all of Freakshow because I honestly felt like it was extremely boring.

Thanks for reading the article Bianca. I loved Coven to begin with but at the midway point I couldn’t bear to endure it every week as it had become such a mess. For me Freak Show was better overall but still nowhere near the quality of the first two seasons.

a southern medium, a new england lesbian reporter, the daughter of the supreme, and conjoined twins….but i guess sarah paulson has played the same character every season?

    1. Pip_EntFocus says:

Thanks for taking the time to read the article and comment. Personality wise there hasn’t been whole lot of difference in the characters Paulson has played. Particularly Asylum and Coven – the characters were interchangeable at points. She’s always the ‘good’ opposite Jessica Lange’s ‘bad’. The original concept of the show is that the actors would play good one season, bad the next. That hasn’t been the case. Even with the twins the characters were ultimately amongst the ‘good’ side.

  4. Scott LePage says:

Freak shows ending was open to interpretation. You could say she didnt get what was coming to her and remained in her nirvana. BUT we will never know what happenes once she started singing. Did the crowd love her? Or was it a repeat of that terrible night where they threw things at her? well never know. So classifying it as a undeserved fate is wrong since its ambiguous.

    1. Pip_EntFocus says:

I’m not sure what I said was wrong; that was my interpretation of the ambiguous ending. Surely it would have been more satisfying to see what happened to her good or bad?
