Lucy (Abigail Spencer) saw her life turned upside down when she was recruited by Homeland Security on the first episode of Timeless.
Thrown into a team with soldier Wyatt (Matt Lanter) and programmer Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), Lucy was sent to pursue a villain called Flynn (Goran Višnjić) who went back in time to prevent the Hindenburg disaster so he could bomb the airship on its return flight, killing important Americans travelling to the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
The team hijacked the Hindenburg and forced its pilots to land it. All of the passengers survived even though it still exploded due to a shoot out. Lucy came face-to-face with Flynn who had a journal she had written from the future. He also made her question the motives of her recruiters.
When the team arrived back in the present, Lucy questioned Agent Christopher (Sakina Jaffrey) but she claimed not to know anything about what Flynn had said. It was also revealed that Rufus was part of the team to spy on them for Connor (Joseph Paterson).
Lucy returned home to find her mother now healthy, her sister no longer exists and that she was engaged.
The next episode of the season is The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The team arrive in Washington DC on 14 April 1865, where they soon find themselves fighting the temptation to change the past.
