  1. Strontium says:

I find it strange how reviewers find it so difficult to see past Sue Blane’s (admittedly rarely changing) costumes and become so blind to the performances of this show’s casts. Oliver Thornton’s Frank is a very different character to Tim Curry’s interpretation and Kristian Lavercombe’s Riff Raff is a much louder, comedic character than Richard O’Brien’s comparatively restrained performance.

Although this isn’t my favourite version of the show and it’s certainly not as innovative as the director’s previous production it’s not a reheated version of the film (as far as I’m aware Christopher Luscombe isn’t even that familiar with the show outside of his own productions) and in my opinion the only person truly pandering to the audience is Philip Franks who lacks the control needed to stop them from taking over the show.
