World premiere of SAGA by Michael Currell

SAGA is an original adaptation of August Strindberg’s surrealist, expressionist piece of theatre, ‘A Dream Play’, written in 1901. It comes to the Etcetera Theatre 12th – 16th March at 7pm with a 4pm matinee on Saturday 16th March.

It is a 60-minute, bi-lingual (English and Swedish) revival of this classic play at a
time when Brexit draws near (or does it?), the property ladder is near impossible to
climb, vloggers are worshiped and millennials are buckling under debt racked up from years of education.

Saga, the daughter of the Gods, falls down from Heaven to see who mankind truly are. She gets caught in a totalitarian dream-scape that’s a hybrid between English and Swedish cultures and the dictator is only seen through CCTV cameras monitoring their homes. Saga falls in love with a millennial Young Professional and they meet many other stereotypes along the way.

Think Alice in Wonderland meets Black Mirror. Olivia Stone is the director and producer. Michael Currell is the writer.
