Strictly stars to perform at Hope House gala

Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Robin Windsor will perform at a gala fund-raiser for Hope House Children’s Hospices (Ty Gobaith) on Sunday 2nd August 2015.

Taking place at London’s Hippodrome Casino, the evening will also feature Lance Ellington & his band, Peoples Strictly Anna Kennedy (OBE), Jordan Lee Davies (The Voice team Will.I.Am) Amanda Posener (Lion King, Avenue Q), Paul Hazel (Rat Pack, Grand Hotel) Nadine Cox (Wicked, Mamma Mia) Zoe Curlett (Phantom, Les Mis), Keiron Crook (Sound of Music, Joseph) and cabaret artists Tanya Holt (Cautionary Tales for Daughters) and the Hippodromeā€™s resident drag act Velma Celli.

The event has been produced by 81-year-old Greta Lee who started fundraising for Hope House (Ty Gobaith) after her 9-year old granddaughter Lorna, tragically lost her life to leukaemia. For over 10 years Greta has been successfully persuading West End singers to perform at fund-raising events in the tiny Welsh town of Tywyn, where she lives. These off-West End shows have become legendary.

ā€œIf you could see the value of what Hope House does for terminally ill children and their families, you wouldnā€™t be able to stop yourself from wanting to helpā€ says Greta. ā€œEvery penny I raise goes straight to them so I know exactly what it gets spent on. I do feel nervous about producing such a glitzy show, but I donā€™t think Cameron Macintosh needs to worry about me filling his shoes just yet. I am incredibly lucky.ā€ Stars Give Hope would like to raise awareness of the event and the charity.

Sarah Kearsley-Wooller, Fundraising Manager from Hope House said ā€œWe are so very grateful to Greta, for her enthusiasm and tireless support of our work. Each year at our two hospices ā€“ Hope House in Oswestry and Ty Gobaith in Conwy – we need to raise more than Ā£4.5million to care for life threatened babies, children and young people and in 2014, without wonderful people such as Greta, we would not have been able to support 651 families. Her support enables us to build memories.ā€
