Alan Shed (real name Alan Leach) is bringing his Music, Comedy & Everything Else Interactive Quiz Show debut to this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Throughout the month of August Alan Leach, who you may recognise as the original and long-term drummer of the alternative 90s rock band Shed Seven, will be hosting a daily music, comedy and general knowledge quiz rather than attempting stand-up comedy.
When Shed Seven disbanded in 2003 only a dozen people witnessed Alan’s first and final attempt at stand-up comedy. He apparently vowed never to put himself through it again and has since swapped stand-up for hosting quizzes. Alan explained his reasoning for this decision: ‘You still get to drink beer and crack lame jokes into a microphone, but if no one laughs, f**k it, it’s a quiz!’
In Edinburgh Alan’s audience will get to take part in this fun competitive interactive quiz. Each group of people will be given a tablet on arrival with the app already open on the screen and the quiz will feature music rounds as well as sections on classic comedy with some traditional general knowledge thrown in for good measure.
Whilst Shed Seven were on a four-year hiatus, Alan created global quiz company – Speedquizzing.com – with his brother, which now has over 800 weekly quizzes in the UK and a further 300 in the US and other countries.
Meanwhile, Shed Seven have been back touring and appearing at key festivals since 2007. After the success of their 2017 top ten studio album ‘Instant Pleasures’ they will play their biggest UK tour to date this winter. Taking in two nights at Brixton Academy and their first ever Arena gig at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
