Maisie Adam wins 2018 Amused Moose National New Comic Award

Maisie Adam has been named winner of the Amused Moose National New Comic Award following the final at Edinburgh venue The Space @ Symposium Hall.

The comic, also winner of So You Think You’re Funny? New act competition at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, is currently performing her show Vague at the Guilded Balloon Teviot this month until 27th August at 4:30pm.

A total of three shiny moose trophies were up for grabs, with other awards presented for People’s Champion, won by Stephen Trumble and Breakthrough Comedian, won by Joe Hobbs. Nina Conti presented the awards, having scooped the main award in 2002. The final was hosted by Ian Smith.

Famed for giving a platform to emerging talent, voting took place during the final, with industry and talent scout representatives present. The finalists, chosen by industry and audiences through numerous qualifying rounds, heats, quarter and semifinals were Barney Iley, Jack Harris, Joe Hobbs, Josh Baulf, Louise Atkinson, Maisue Adam, Oisin Hanlon, Rosie Holt and Stephen Trumble.

Finalists follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Carr, Greg Davies, Jack Whitehall, Sarah Millican, Simon Amstell, Josh Widdicombe, Rhod Gilbert, Nina Conti, Romesh Ranganathan, Alex Horne, Kevin Bridges, Andi Osho, Alex Zane, Mark Watson, Lee Nelson, Josie Long and Rob Beckett.
