Leads announced for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound will be leading the cast of forthcoming theatre production Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

The actors will star as the comedy duo Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson when the UK premiere of the show arrives in the West End in March 2014. The will be joined by Katherine Kingsley as Christine Colgate.

Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) will direct and choreograph the show which has music and lyrics by Drama Desk Award winner David Yazbek (The Full Monty). The book is by Jeffrey Lane.

Robert Lindsay said ā€œI went to see Kinky Boots on Broadway last week and was so blown away by the euphoria in the theatre that I was even more thrilled to be working with Jerry Mitchell. I have been waiting for the right musical to cross my path and feel like I have finally found it with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. When I met the writers, they were so excited to be re-working the show for a UK audience, especially as there is a real sense of classic English humour in this production, so fitting for the Savoy Theatre!ā€.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will run at the Manchester Opera House from 12th to 22nd February 2014 before moving on to the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre from 26th February to 1st March. It will then open at London’s Savoy Theatre on 10th March 2014.

Based on the 1988 film which starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin, the theatre production has been reconceived and reimagined for the UK stage.
