Avenue Q to open at the Greenwich Theatre

The casting of Sell a Door Theatre Company’s Avenue Q has now been announced with a host of fresh young talent supporting the puppet stars of the Tony Award winning musical. Reprising her role from the South Korean tour, Ellena Vincent will be playing Gary Coleman, a female role on Broadway but a male role in the West End. Returning to Sell a Door after The Man Who Had All The Luck, Richard Morse will be playing Brian, and Jessica Parker will be returning after her recent role in Seussical as Mrs T/Bad Idea Bear. The roles of the hopeful young graduate Princeton and closet gay Republican Rod will be taken by Tom Steedon (Musical Starnights European Tour) and Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut will be played by Lucie-Mae Sumner (Sister Mary Roberts in Sister Act, UK Tour).

A smash hit on Broadway, the West End and worldwide, this hugely popular coming of age satire based on the much loved Sesame Street features puppets and puppeteers alongside human actors. The producers behind the first UK Tour of Spring Awakening and West End production of Seussical will be embarking on a ten week tour of the Tony Award winning musical comedy following a run in their resident venue Greenwich Theatre.

Recent college graduate Princeton moves to Avenue Q filled with hopes and dreams and in search of his purpose. What he finds is Gary Coleman fixing the toilets, girl next door Kate Monster and her unfulfilled dreams for a Monsterssori school, internet sexpert Trekkie Monster and closet gay Republican Rod. With songs such as The Internet is for Porn and Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist, these funny, fuzzy characters teach Princeton about real life in a mixture of flesh, felt and heart.

Avenue Q is at Greenwich Theatre from Weds 23rd Apr to Sun 11th May, Tues-Sat 7.30pm, Sun 6pm, Weds & Sat matinees 2.30pm (excluding 23rd Apr). Tickets are on sale now at £26 & £21 (cons £22.50 & £17.50), previews 23rd & 24th April £11. Book online at www.greenwichtheatre.org.uk or contact the box office on 020 8858 7755.
