Auditions for The Ladykillers

Leeds Grand Theatre is looking for a group of extras for the upcoming production of The Ladykillers. Described in the script as a ‘swarm of old ladies’ the women will join the cast to play Mrs Wilberforce’s friends.

Mrs Wilberforce – played by Michele Dotrice (Betty Spencer in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em) – is an eccentric old lady who lives alone with her parrot in a strange lopsided house in King’s Cross. Her life is turned upside down by the arrival of Professor Marcus (Paul Bown) and his four friends, (Cliff Parisi, Clive Mantle, Chris McCalphy & William Troughton) who between them make up the most unlikely group of criminals.

“The women won’t have any dialogue but will be an active part in two scenes that bookend the interval,” says Amy Sanderson Head of Communications at The Grand. “It’s a really exciting opportunity for four local women to join a professional cast in a great production and tread the famous boards of Leeds Grand Theatre!”

Those interested must be women over the age of 55, no taller than 5’ 5”, dress size 8 to 14, and available every day from Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 6th April.  Applications should be sent to [email protected] or write to Ladykillers’ Auditions, Leeds Grand Theatre, 46 New Briggate, LS1 6NZ.  The deadline for applications is Friday 22nd March at mid-day.
