City Varieties Youth Theatre (8-10 years group) will present Alice in the News at City Varieties Music Hall in April. Following the success of last year’s devised piece, The Summer Snowball, the group are back by popular demand. Since launching City Varieties Youth Theatre in January 2012, the young people have performed a variety of shows to packed audiences at City Varieties and the Howard Assembly Room.
Charles Way’s enchanting tale, originally commissioned by the National Theatre, joins Alice as she falls head first into another adventure. The Daily News is in chaos! The Vowels are rebelling against the Consonants, the Photographs are running riot and the Exclamation Marks are failing to keep “shape and order”! After Alice is discovered hiding between the pages, her presence is viewed as an intrusion and she must protest her innocence or face the Question Marks.
