The X Factor 2017 semi-finals top 3 performances

Last night The X Factor 2017 semi-finals started and for the first time all the contestants performed on the same night. The theme of the night was Cool Britannia and the contestants picked interesting tracks.

Below I rank my top three performances:

3. Kevin Davy White – Come Together by The Beatles

Kevin feels like a breath of fresh air on the show. The young French man is different to the rest of the contestants on the show and always does things his way. I enjoyed his performance of this classic track and thought he put a nice spin over it.

What the judges said: Sharon said that Kevin was a great showman and that he changes it up every week and deserved to still be in the competition. Simon added that his performance was raw and exciting and that it was fantastic.

2. Lloyd Macey – Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John

I adore Lloyd Macey and there is a good reason for it, he is always consistent and simply sings beautifully every week. His performance of the Elton John song was flawless, you could not tell the contestant had been ill earlier this week.

What the judges said: Simon thought that was a great song choice for Lloyd, whilst Nicole added that this was her favourite performance of his on the show. Mentor Louis also said that he was a great artist and deserved to be on the show.

1. Grace Davies: David Bowie – Life on Mars?

Grace gave a heartfelt performance of Bowie’s stunning track. I loved her version and how she changed the track and made it her own. It felt fragile but confident.

What the judges said: Simon thought that Grace had taken the song somewhere else and that he loved her performance. Nicole called Grace a unicorn and Louis added this was his favourite performance of the night. Mentor Sharon thought she was full of class and did a great performance.

Unfortunately it was the end of the road for Matt Linnen, who failed to score enough votes.

The X Factor 2017 semi-final continues tonight on ITV.
