Last night the last three contestants on The X Factor 2016, 5 After Midnight, Matt Terry and Saara Aalto sang to stay in the competition and win this year’s crown. Unfortunately only one contestant can win and Saturday night was the night 5 After Midnight left the show. Judges, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne were both supporting their finalists, they were joined by Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell. Tonight’s guests on the show included Kylie Minogue, X Factor winner, Little Mix and Madness.
The X Factor festivities kicked off with a performance from Kylie, who was joined by the two finalists. Matt and Saara looked so happy on stage it was a real treat to watch them live their dream.
Saara Aalto was up first singing her favourite song of the series, It’s Oh So Quiet. Saara looked incredible tonight and her performance of Bjork’s hit was out of this world. I loved the Alice and Wonderland theme and Saara looked like a pro.
The comments: Louis said that he would buy her album and that she had the X Factor, Nicole added that she put fun in funtastic and that it was explosive. Simon said that her bonkers performance was the reason she won over the heart of the nation and his.
Matt Terry picked his favourite song of the series, Writing’s On The Wall. I loved this song the first time around and Matt showed off how good a singer he is once more. I have to say though his performance was bland compared to Saara’s.
The comments: Sharon said that it was an amazing performance and Simon added that he was having a really good final and looked good.
Both contestants sang again, Matt was up first singing One Day I’ll Fly Away, which seemed like a strange choice but the arrangement was beautiful and his finish brought tears to Sharon and Nicole’s eyes.
Saara decided to go big with a Whitney Houston cover, I didn’t Know My Own Strength. Of course Saara was able to hit all the big notes and she sounded great but I thought the song was a bit boring.
Only one could be crowned the winner of The X Factor 2016 and the contestant with the highest votes was Matt Terry!
Matt was only in the bottom three once during the competition and was consistent every week! He deserved to win and finally he sang his single.
The X Factor will return in 2017.
