Matt Linnen leaves The X Factor 2017

The X Factor semi-final started tonight and the remaining contestants Grace Davies, Kevin Davy White, Lloyd Macey, Rak-Su, The Cutkelvins and Matt Linnen sang in order to secure a place on next week’s final.

This week all the contestants went head to head on the lives shows for the first time this season. The theme for tonight’s songs was Cool Britannia. Tomorrow night the 5 acts still in the competition will perform songs that they hope will get them through to the final.

Matt picked a big song to sing on tonight’s semi finals and unfortunately it did not pay of for him as he was voted off the show. I thought that Matt sounded good tonight and overall was still a good contestant on this year’s X Factor show. His version of he Rolling Stones song was energetic and you could see that he was loving every minute of it.

You can relive Matt’s performance of the Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter below:

What the judges said: Louis thought that Matt could have picked a better song for the semi final but Sharon thought he sang really well on tonight’s show and she thought he’d improved every week. Simon disagreed with Louis and said he loved the song and added that he liked his balls. Mentor Nicole pleaded for the public to vote for him but unfortunately it was not enough for him to reach the final.

Matt did not have an easy ride on the show and it was a difficult night for him as he went head to head with the biggest acts of this year. He did perform well but it was difficult to compete against this years favourites.

The X Factor semi-final continues tomorrow night on ITV as the remaining contestants sing to remain in the competition.

Tune in for the X Factor semi-final at 7.30 pm on Sunday night.
