The Tunnel season 3 gets first look images

It’s been an agonising wait for The Tunnel season 3 but hang in there because there’s not long to go. Sky have released some new key art (see above) for the new season along with four first look images.

Announced as The Tunnel: Vengeance, the third season is expected to be the final instalment of the crime thriller. It comes with an ominous tagline of “Do not expect light at the end of The Tunnel“. The season again brings together the adored and unlikely Anglo-French duo Karl Roebuck (Stephen Dillane) and Elise Wassermann (Clémence Poésy).

These first look images give little away about the new season but do confirm a few things. First there’s a shot of Karl and Elise together again. The pair look to be soaking wet after pulling what looks to be a bin liner and stuffed elephant out of some water.

The images confirm that BB (William Ash) is returning. There are also shots of three new characters, one of these is a couple called Blake (Tom Hanson) and Kiki (Sharon Rooney).

The Tunnel: Vengeance is penned by lead writer Emilia Di Girolamo (Law & Order: UK). This third season will feature another new and original story set over six parts.

Kudos TV tweeted at the end of October that they had held a cast & crew screening:

The Tunnel: Vengeance is set in Europe amidst hysteria around a refugee crisis, the increasing threat and horror of terrorism and with far-right groups growing in power.

Detectives Karl and Elise are faced with a toxic and terrifying duo whose hideous crimes see them take ever more dark and desperate measures to provoke the police into collaborating on their desperate endgame. Against this, is the backdrop of Karl’s fractured family life and a miscarriage of justice from Elise’s past that shakes her to her core.

The Tunnel: Vengeance release date is set for December 14th, 2017. Like with previous seasons, fans around the world are expected to have to wait until 2018 to see the new season.
