Shaun (Freddie Highmore) and Alex (Will Yun Lee) treated a patient with Mobius Syndrome on the penultimate episode of The Good Doctor’s first season.
The condition meant the girl couldn’t smile and after agreeing to surgery, the girl started to change her mind after Shaun scared her and she realised her dad couldn’t afford to pay for it. Andrews (Hill Harper) managed to persuade an insurance executive to cover the cost of the surgery.
After surgery the patient experienced complications, which led the doctors to believe the girl was brain dead. Alex realised she was actually still under anaesthesia so the team were able to ensure she made a full recovery.
