Shaun (Freddie Highmore) struggled during a case involving a transgender teenager on the latest episode of The Good Doctor.
He couldn’t get past the patient’s biology and kept referring to her as ‘he’ even though she identified as male. Despite repeated warnings Shaun kept on misgendering her but he learned some lessons by speaking with her about her experience.
The team had to operate on her when they discovered they had testicular cancer and they provided two options to her parents and grandmother, one of which would have left her unable to conceive children biologically. A fierce row broke out between the parents and the grandmother but in the end they agreed not to go for the more drastic option incase she changed her mind in the future.

Meanwhile Brown (Antonia Thomas) was paired with new intern Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) and discovered just how cut-throat her new ‘team-mate’ was as they faced off against Shaun and Kalu (Chuku Modu) in a competition. Brown and Reznick won but that did nothing to ease the tension between the two.
The next episode of the season is Heartfelt. Dr Shaun Murphy takes on a housebound but social media savvy, patient with a rare heart condition, hoping he can give her the life she dreams of.
