The Flash 4×02 Mixed Signals preview

Team Flash faced a crisis when a Samurai threatened to destroy Central City unless The Flash was handed over to him on the season 4 premiere of The Flash.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) was still trapped in the Speed Force and six months had passed since the season 3 finale. Iris (Candice Patton) took over controlling the team while Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) joined forces to protect the city.

Cisco had secretly been working on a way to bring Barry back and behind Iris’ back, he assembled the team to carry out his plan. Iris caught wind of what was happening and initially the team thought it hadn’t worked but Barry was found by the police and Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) contacted Joe (Jesse L. Martin).

Barry was in a confused state, rambling incoherently and drawing symbols on the walls. When the team tried, and failed, to turn him back into the old Barry, Iris handed herself over to the Samurai in the hope that her being in peril would be the push Barry needed.

Her plan worked and Barry saved her before discovering that the Samurai was a robot. It was then revealed that the robot was being controlled by The Thinker (Neil Sandilands).

Elsewhere in the episode Cisco convinced Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) to rejoin the team but she lied about having rid herself of her Killer Frost powers. At the episode’s end, she turned back into Killer Frost as it was revealed that she had become caught up with a mobster. Also Cecile moved in with Joe as they took their relationship to the next step.

The next episode of the season is Mixed Signals. Barry deals with the ramifications of abandoning Iris while facing a meta who can control technology.
