Recent Nvidia driver update made your mouse pointer vanish? Here’s how to bring it back

If like, me you, religiously update your GPU drivers each time a new one is released, you might have recently noticed that your mouse pointer has a tendency to disappear when playing certain games. To put it bluntly, this is bloody annoying and whilst I might expect some issues when installing updates this one is pretty hard to swallow. Before I found out how to make my trusty pointer re-appear I resorted to the setting where pressing Ctrl on your keyboard pings where your mouse is on screen.

Thankfully the guys have acknowledged the issue and have released a hotfix to solve the problem.

The hotfix is available in two variants, Windows 10 64-bit Standard Driver and the Windows 10 64-bit DCH Driver, but Nvidia said the only difference between the two is the way they’re packaged. I found this wasn’t quite correct and the standard driver wouldn’t install but I did get a pop up saying that I needed the DCH version so it was obvious which version I needed.

I don’t know if it’s affecting all GPUs but for reference, I’m using an RTX 2080 and this fix worked for me.

If you’ve been experiencing the same issue you can download the hotfix from the links below:
