MiTAC have announced the release of the Magellan Echo smartwatch for runners.
The Magellan Echo wirelessly links the watch display with smartphone fitness apps streaming real-time fitness data directly to your wrist. Connected apps and music can be controlled remotely via the watch whilst you run.
āWith support from leading apps Strava, MapMyRunĀ®, iSmoothRun and Wahoo Fitness, Echo improves the experience of running with your favorite fitness app,ā said Piet Deschuymer, President of MiTAC Europe. āThe Echo puts app data and notifications where you can see them: right on your wrist. And its controls allow you to interact with both the app and the music. Itās a simple solution to a huge problem. For the first time, runners can easily communicate and interact with their favorite app, without taking the phone in their hand.ā
The Echo uses Bluetooth Smart to wirelessly connect with a smartphone. Users can get fitness data including elapsed time and distance. You can also navigate around your music playlist via the watch.
Boasting water-resistant casing the Echo can withstand adverse weather conditions and has a battery that lasts 6-11 months and is easily replaceable.
The Magellan Echo can be used as an everyday watch too so it’s not limited to use only when running. It is available now for Ā£129.99 or Ā£169.99, with a Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitor. It is available in the colors Black, Blue or Orange.
